GPU Marketplace

Hyperbolic

The AI boom created an unprecedented demand for compute - far beyond early forecasts. While startups and engineers struggle to secure GPUs, many smaller data centers actually operate with unused capacity.

Solution

Hyperbolic’s GPU marketplace connects these two sides, integrating global data center partners into a unified platform that standardizes configuration, pricing, and provisioning.

My Role

As the founding and sole designer on the team, I designed the platform from scratch, translating complex supplier constraints and networking configurations into a scalable and developer-first experience.

Designing the Structural Model

I began by designing the system skeleton before designing the interface.

GPU rental is a lifecycle with layered constraints across compute, storage, and capacity models.

Grounding the product in this structure allowed the UI to mirror real infrastructure mental models.

With the system structure grounded, the next challenge was designing how users navigate tradeoffs within that structure.

Designing the Decision Model

GPU rental decisions for AI startups and technical builders are highly multi-dimensional, but not all constraints matter at the same time.

I designed the interface around a clear hierarchy of decision anchors, prioritizing the choices that define feasibility and cost, while deferring secondary considerations until they become relevant.

Progressive Disclosure

Sequence complexity so users focus on the decisions that matter now, without hiding advanced control.

Color-Coded Indicators

Visualize downstream constraints in place, helping users understand what’s possible before committing.

Real-Time Cost Feedback

Keep pricing continuously visible so performance and cost tradeoffs are evaluated as decisions are made.

Closing the Feedback Loop

At scale, GPU spend compounds quickly. The analytics page provides organizations with continuous visibility into usage and cost, enabling informed operational decisions as workloads grow.
